EVA Life Story Box Update

The participants have begun the design and build stage of this EVA project in which they’re bringing together selected artifacts and sound recordings in a special container they’ve chosen.  The finished Life Story boxes are being personalized by each maker.  They will have physical and digital elements and may contain objects which have triggered stories which can then be heard, through headphones, at the touch of a button or lift of a flap within the box.  They might include photographs, …

Percussive Feet had great workshop!

On Sunday, December 2, EVA Commission Artist Jan Blake used improvised movement for a soundwork created by percussive feet in response to her hanging sculpture, Zig Zag.

Six choreographers/dancers gathered with Jan in The Gallery at The Island in Bristol’s old Bridewell Street Police Station.  After a reflexology warm-up for the feet, Jan got the dancers into improv mode by asking them to ‘dance their names’.  Soon the dancers (most of whom had not worked together before) were creating their own steps …
